    Hello all again,

So it seems that my bike has fallen prey to the gremlins......

latest and greatest was that she had flooded out and i found out that the petcock spring was on the wrong side of the diaphram, with that fixed she no longer floods out.

upcoming things to do are strip the carbs again and combine parts from an extra 1 I picked up.....

Latest gremlin....... she refuses to cold start..... ran the battery down trying last nite.... put her on a charger and waited for an hour, tried again and nothing, sounds like the starter just goes click, I can not hear the starter whine over at all, I only hear the click of relay..... DO I NEED A NEW STARTER???? I HOPE NOT......

Someone told me that if the vaccum hose is faulty (cracks, holes, etc) then she would have a hard time cold starting....

oh those pesky gremlins..... i refuse to let them get the better of me....

You need a fully charged battery. If your starter is not turning over you can take it apart and clean it - usually resolves the issue. There are numerous threads on cleaning the starter.

Sorry, forgot to mention that last fall i opened up the starter and cleaned it, it was full of crap.......
I have read here before that the starting voltage needs to be around 12.5v when you hit the starter button, what should it read when the key is off and and test the battery with no loads on it?

About 12.5 to 13v give or take a bit on a fully charged battery

So if the battery is drained, it will not crank over the starter at all? i thought with a bit juice that the starter may still whine over.

Too bad i can't put in an 18v battery

I have seen that happen. Most of the time a weaker battery will run the starter over but nothing is left for spark.

You can pull the starter and test it or just cross the relay with a screw driver. If it turns over the relay is not closing, but you are hearing it click so not sure this is it.
