Found this on another forum. Thank goodness THIS forum doesn't fit the mold!

One to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed.

Fourteen to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently.

Seven to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs.

Seven more to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs.

Five to flame the spell checkers.

    Three to correct spelling/grammar flames.

Six to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another six to condemn those six as stupid.

Fifteen to claim experience in the lighting industry and give the correct spelling.

Nineteen to post that this group is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb (or light bulb) forum.

Eleven to defend the posting to the group saying that we all use light bulbs and there fore the posts are relevant to this group.

Thirty six to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty

Seven to post URLs where one can see examples of different light bulbs.

Four to post that the URLs were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL.

Three to post about links they found from the URLs that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group.

Thirteen to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too"

Five to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy.

Four to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

Thirteen to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"

Three to tell a funny story about their show dog and a light bulb.

    AND

One group lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.

Yea but did you change the fuse box and clean the carbs BEFORE changing the bulb?

Couldn't resist poking a bit of fun at ourselves...

cleaning the carbs isn't going to do you any good if you don't check and re-spec your valves first...

I think that was back-lit using the Sun Lighting System®. ;) It can be found on the exterior of most window units.

You know, you can put a new filament in and re-use the lightbulb.
I don't see why everyone keeps throwing them out. Save the Planet.

I have to re vac-sync my light bulb tomorrow. I only did it once. Vac-sync and color tuned so I need to re vac sync to see how much the color tune caused it to change.
I must say this though if it were not for the members of this forum my light bulb would still be burned out. I'm very mechanically inclined. But having said that I have never worked on a motorcycle before. But with the guidance and encouragement from my fellow XJer's I see no need to ever take my light bulb to the shop again.
The three most important thins I have learned is:

1 take the time to throughly clean your carbs, I spent to days making sure they where clean.

2 BUY the Carbtune and Colortune, at the price Chacal sells them for it saves you more time and money then you realize. It's a cheap investment.

3 Perceiver when you are stumped, ask lots of questions, take your time when you get frustrated walk away think about it and get ALL the reading material you can find on fixing these things. No one book has all the answers. In fact you can be grossly misinformed if you try to depend on one source, as you will find if you depend solely on the Haynes manual.

So thank you all for helping my light bulb shine brighter then ever and giving me the confidence to accomplish what I have set out to do

After some cleaning and polishing my tail light finally stopped running lean. However the light seems to be very dim, considering all the tailgaters.
anyone ever run one of these:
    http://www.bltdirect.com/images/product ... arge_2.jpg
I really like the fact they come with a tailgater sensor. I'm thinking of running 2 of them so they run as tail, brake and blinkers at the same time.
Anyone ever done this before, will a trailer harness thingy work?
Pls help I'm at a loss! The yamaha dealer has no clue and the wiring diagram looks like abacadabra in the spaghetti factory.
    Thanks!

Re: How many XJBikes forum does it take to change a light bu

Man, I'm glad this thread got resurrected!

I've been having a problem with my #4 cylinder missing from time to time and I completely forgot that I replaced the stock head lamp and turn signals with HID LED Multispectrum Univerersal Drop In Replacements. Obviously the flux dispersion ratio is not to OEM spec and is causing an imbalance in the YICS passage which is adversely effecting the fuel mixture flow through the #4 pilot circuit, there bye increasing back pressure and not allowing a full burn.

Wow, this has been eye opening!

Thanks everyone for the expert advice and support!

Great Scott! It's your Flux Capacitor man. The only way to get a full fuel burn is you have to channel all 1.21 Gigawatts of temporal stator output thru the positive side of the flux capacitor. That'll fix it!

I just got my XJ and want the light bulbs (or lightbulbs) to last as long as possible on Sweet Sassy 650. The PO told me they were a very rare type normally used on factory race bikes from that era so you can see why I want to take care of them.

Will cruising in 4th gear at 6220 rpm (about 66 mph) or 5th gear at 5879 rpm (about 64 mph) make my light bulbs last longer?

What about using synthetic oil? Premium organic gasoline?

Damn I've been looking for those blubs since 1920, pls tell me the PO gave u a source from where to get them.
From what I've heard your rpms/gear don't really matter IF you soak them in carb cleaner overnight and fill them with 8.75Q of marvel mystery oil every 8000km/89756723miles.
Premium organic gasoline or bio diesel is always a good choice.
Also make sure ur synt oil contains anti friction agents so the diodes in ur bulbs won't stick.
    Hope that helps!

It's not a lightbulb or a light bulb. It's a lamp. Bulbs are what you plant to get tulips and daffodils. Hence, we electricians talk of "lamping up" where we walk round the job putting the lamps in, which include those five and six foot fluorescent lamps.

I'm disappointed; this isn't up to the usual forum standards.:)

    PS. It's lamps!
