    #2 cyclinder on 750 maxim no compression.... bike has no power... normally screams.... now tops out at just 65 mph... some one please help... also rpm gauge no longer works right.... works at idle not under throttle.... someone please throw me some advice... thanks

    On 2 wheels... just lost my hat.
    first, no compression is a bad bad sign. time for a tear down it sounds like.
    what year of bike? need some more info to determine whats going on.

    1982 xj 750 maxim..... have no way to check valves or compression need some advice bad....

    Well, ... You need a Compression Tester.

    I'd go to SEARS.
    Since you aren't going to be using it every day ... a Universal Off-Brand Tester will "Fill the Bill"

    If you live in a Town with an AutoZone ... they might have one to loan you.

    Before anyone can make a recommendation about what you should do or not ... we need to know if the Engine has IN FACT lost Compression.

    Knowing the Compression Values of your four cylinders is what we need, ... first!

    The only Genuine "Good Advice" to give you before the Compression Values are obtained is:

    Park it and hang-up the key.

    I bought my compression tester at my local Harbor Freight store. It was pretty cheap and works good.

    Sounds like one of your coils has gone down, check that first.
