    Hello Everyone,

I have been religiously roaming around here for about 2 months ever since I found this forum, after buying the XJ I now ride for $750. I bought it to get back on the road from a 8 year drought. This was ganna until i could get something nice...What I got was one of the best bikes I have ever ridden. I have already relocated the turn signals behind the plate so my saddle bags would fit a week after i got it. Now I am embarking on a new project to change the saddle bags to 20MM ammo can. (thanks Buffalo great idea) Now here is the question.

I want to add 3 wire flush mount stop/turn to the back of each bag and remove the stop light and turn signals. I got a 5 wire to 4 wire converter from the store and the lights. Has anyone done this before and will it cause issues for the flasher or auto cancel? the converter is a Uriah brand model UE727030. When I get it done I will post Pics of the results and if it works.

By the way english teachers are unwelcome as I know i can't spell.

    you spelled that wrong.

    i couldnt resist....

anyway, i install the boxes all the time. i cant seem to find your model you posted, but ill spew info anyway!

unpowered style- the unpowered boxes will use the power from the light circuits to illuminate the lights. this WILL cause a blinker problem when you have the brakes applied. when you apply the brakes, the box will stop drawing juice from the blinker circuit and now your flasher thinks you have a bulb out.

powered- i prefer these, however they are more money and still have bugs to work around. bug #1 is that the powered boxes dont draw any power from the light circuits, they use the voltage as a reference or signal only. the juice used to illuminate bulbs comes from a hot B+ or ignition lead. your blinkers will function as if there is a bulb out. the work around for this is to wire in a solid state electronic flasher bulb. works PERFECT with any amount of draw from .25 amp up to 25 amps.

    hope this helps!

I got the project done today and I was shocked on how well it turned out. The key peice I wanted to share is that the 2 prong automotive flasher I got pluged right in. I removed the canceler as no signal was going to it anymore and works like a charm. turn side still flashes when the breaklight is on. While I was in there I replaced the fuse box with someing i found at the parts store.
