All, I have been a 750 SECA owner for almost a year, I practically re-did the bike over the winter. My father in law owns his own body shop so we stripped the bike down and repainted all the plastics and gas tank.

Anyways, here is the deal. I have put on a different gas tank, has very little body work done on the tank, very good condition. Just re-built the front forks and they have new oil seals and dust seals. I had a different speedo gauge put on from a member on XJbikes, everything on there works great. Brand new windshield from www.clearviewshields.com. Bike looks great, all the lights work and I have done a little work on the electrical. Bike has full header pipe re-routing exhaust out the right side with a JarDine pipe.

Now here is my dilemma. My bike has been running great! On the way home today, right before I pulled in my driveway it started cutting out on me. It acts like it is not getting any gas, however I have not spent a lot of time working on it. I have noticed my petcock has a very slow drip of gas on the bottom of it every now and then so I am suspecting a petcock problem.

Truth be known, I am not the best mechanic, and I am tired of working on the bike after I had it stripped down and put back together, I am seriously considering either selling the bike AS-IS or parting the bike back out.

After all of my repairs I have more in the bike than I should, the different forks I got and then the seal repair was quite expensive. The excellent gas tank I picked up was not cheap either.

So if I cannot get at least what I have in the bike back out it will probably go to parts. Bike has a clean title.

Any interest? Am I crazy to give up on it?

If you part it out, I got dibs on the fairing ;-)

Honestly, if you put that much work into her, a bit more and you will have a good solid bike. She is a looker. If the petcock is leaking already, there is obviously a problem. My opinion would be to get a replacement from Chacal that isn't vacuum fed and has a straight on/off control, that's what I did. Between that and maybe some carb cleanup (depending on what you did with them when you had the bike apart) you should be decent.

My 2cents - still got dibs on that fairing though ;-)

    location and price would help.

I concur with the above tho finish the rest and ride it don't just give up. Oh fyi you will never get back the $$ you put into these old bikes. only the enjoyment of a great running bike.

Well Ok, I feel pretty stupid now. I was completely frustrated with the bike on Thursday and wanted to work on it no more.

I was just goofing off this morning and found that a wire was worn in to. I stripped back the wire and resoldered it back together. Fired the bike up and ran like a new one.

So I am really glad no one made me an offer as I probably would have taken it and someone could have gotten a really good bike. Thanks for not taking advantage of my frustration!!

I guess I will continue to ride for now unless someone offers me the right amount.

Thanks for encouraging me to work on it again!

Cool sometimes we all need to step back and chill before continuing on. Glad you are keeping her.

I agree, I really like everything about the bike. I just spent a LOT of time wrenching on the bike over the winter and quite frankly was just tired of it. I cooled off and found the problem kind of by accident.

Ran it today. Back to normal, runs like a top!

Glad it's back up and running, but don't ignore that little drip from the petcock... In my situation, no (noticed) drip became a big drip real quick. I also went gravity fed with Chacal - a real easy conversion, and piece of mind in knowing when the gas is ON and when it's OFF.

Damn good job on the bike though... I'm much more a Maxim guy, but I'd definitely ride that. Kudos, sir.

What's this gravity fed fuel valve/petcock replacement you're talking about?
