1985 Yamaha Maxim X 700cc with a little over 14K miles on it. Engine starts right up with a little bit of choke and runs great. Could probably use a bit of tuning to get rid of some off-throttle hesitation. I had it running perfect last summer and properly winterized the bike, but it definitely doesn't run as smooth now as then. The transmission shifts great and the bike handles very well.

Has brand new Bridgestone Spitfire tires on the front and rear, both with less than 1000 miles on them. I rebuilt the master cylinder, but I don't really like the "feel" of it, so I would probably recommend a brand new one at some point, but it does work and it stops the bike, I just think it could be better! IT also has a brand new OEM fuel petcock and has new butterfly shaft seals and pilot screw o-rings. I also put new o-rings on the carb boots too. Probably some other stuff I ordered from Chacal, but just can't think of it at the moment.

Now onto some of the bad - The bike sat in a shed before it got to me and started to make some rust spots on the frame. The bike definitely doesn't look brand new, but does clean up pretty decent for a 24 year old bike. It's currently been sitting in my shop for a month or so and has picked up some dust, but I'll give it a nice bath and clean it up for some pictures. It also has a dent on the front of the gas tank. Probably the last spot you'd expect a dent, but it's a long story - the bike wasn't dropped...the tank was! There is also a small tear in the seat about an inch long.

Bike comes with a clear title ready to be signed over to the new owner! It is currently registered and insured and can easily be driven home, but I don't know how I feel about test rides...it's not fully insured so if you drop it, I'm screwed.

I originally wanted to strip it down to the frame and restore the whole bike, but I have to be realistic here - I've got 6 other automotive projects and I'm looking to move in the near future so I need to put some of my dreams to rest. The bike is in central NJ in the Princeton area and I'm looking to get $1500 obo

I'll get pictures up when I can.

Sorry it took so long for me to get some pictures up. Been extremely busy with other projects that had a much higher priority. I took the Maxim X out of my shop yesterday for a quick bath and then took it for a spin. I'm going to pull the carbs off for a good cleaning as the bike wants to stall at idle and is a bit tricky to get going off the line. When I bought the bike, it did the same exact thing and a thorough carb cleaning took care of that. I'm also going to pick up a new air filter while I'm at it. The oil and oil filter were changed about 500 miles ago so they should be good for some more riding.

Anyway, here are some pictures I snapped. If there is anything else you'd like to see, let me know.

Been a while, but still for sale! I'm looking to make some trades on other forums. Looking for a Jeep Comanche, if anyone happens to have one lying around ;)

Just moved into a new place, so things have been hectic. I need to unpack my tools and set up the garage so I can get the carbs cleaned and have it running like new again.

This bike is still for sale. I ultrasonically cleaned the carbs and replaced the carb-to-intake box rubber boots and also got new clamps (thanks chacal!) I also installed a new air filter (thanks chacal!) The bike starts right up and runs great. Took it for a little spin last night and it is running well. Definitely could use a plug chop and tune to get rid of a little bit of off-idle throttle hesitation, but other than that, it's good to go.

    Price is still $1500 obo.

I ended up picking up the bike from Wombat! :)

I've always known about the Maxim, but now what I've got one, I'm finding out more and more cool stuff about them. Great bike, great forum! Looking forward to chatting with you folks!

No big plans for the bike other than a quicky paint job on the tins. I bought it so for my son so I figure he should get some miles under his belt before I go about messing around with stuff.
