alright guys, tonight I started charging a new battery since my old one is garbage. My intention was to get a strong battery to run a compression test to find my next set of problems. So, battery is on a trickle charger and I am bored. Next thing you know, all turn signals and tailight assembly are on the floor. I had intended to remove/replace them anyway, so why not tonight? as far as the wiring goes, I pretty much cut it up with abandon.

Will this somehow drain my battery and or "waste" my charge? I am not an electrician and possibly i should have considered this beforehand.

    thanks for your help.

No as long as you keep the wires fron touching each
other or any metal parts. There are no dumb questions. I never hurts to ask.

Even that shouldn't be a problem if he unhooks one of the battery cables while he charges.

De-wiring 'with reckless abandon'. I LIKE IT! We should do more things in our lives with reckless abandon. Adjust valve lash, roast weenies, camp and fish with the kids! Water ski, have a picnic and yes,of course, take the turn signals off our XJ's.

Dude, you made my night. Bill passing, a tough night at work dealng with a drunk having DT's and then I read your post.

Thanks again man and good luck with the wiring and compression test.

I think if it had been me, 'feck'less abandon could have been a more appropriate description....
