The right side of course. Has anyone found a suitable shop solution to a missing side cover?

I lost a left side cover a few years ago but managed to replace it for less than $30. The rear tab that holds the right side cover in place broke and had been repaired with super glue and a slotted out washer. I was hoping to find a solid replacement but not at those prices. Maybe some safety wire... :D

Yes, A local guy has a mould and does a fibreglass repro

I also have a pair of carbonfibre sidecovers done by the same guy

I was at a local craft store and they sell kits to make molds of whatever you want and that was the first thought I had. I have seen the covers for the 650s go for close to that much.

That's not the record. Yamaha list was $94 and they were still available until recently (in black only) chacal might even have one in stock.

The RECORD so far was about 8 months ago when one went for just over $120.00.

I bought my 550 for less than $400. It just doesn't seem right to pay 25% of the cost for a side cover.

I better check to make sure the side covers on my 82 Seca. At those prices, I CAN'T afford to lose one!

I recently replaced the rubber grommets that keep the sidecovers on snug. I highly recommend this.

+1. I keep a supply on hand; not only the grommets but the little rectangular buffers that go on the tabs. Grommets get replaced at the first sign of looseness.
