When I bought my 1981 550 Seca, it had a two wire lead that had been pulled out of something on the left side of my handle bar. I have taken the turn signal/horn/high-low beam switch apart and all of the wires are connected inside. When I opened the head light bucket the wire has a green flat rectangular connector attached to the opposite end. Any suggestions?

I'm not too familiar with these things but I guess a way to track this down would be to find out first what works and what doesn't. I suspect that the leads are pulled off of the clutch sensor switch (I believe that if they are off you won't be able to start the bike with it in gear even with the clutch in or if they are off and shorted together you will be able to start the bike with no clutch and in gear, BAD).

Do these wires have a specific color? I.e. - black with a white stripe, or blue with a yellow stripe, or just plain red or whatever... that information will probably help you to look it up on the wiring schematic.

They are B/W and B. I have been looking at my Clymer manual and find any such connector.

I don't have my manual with me, but you should be able to look at the schematic, and locate what would appear to be a little matrix of switch closures... and maybe it will even have a box around it that says Left Control or something along those lines, then confirm w/ the wiring diagram the color.

I don't have my manual with me, but will look tonight if you don't have it sorted by the morning.

I found my answer on the Bikebandit site. I removed the clutch lever and there is a spot for a switch. The switch is missing. I will PM Chacal to see if he has the part. I think the OEM part # is 3Y6-82917-00-00
