I need to relocate my rear turn signals to make room for saddlebags.

The original stems mount through a rubber bushing. Is this to prevent damage from a rider mounting/dismounting, or is it necessary to protect the light bulb from vibration?

I won't be using the original stems and would prefer to go with a rigid mount.

    Any thoughts?

MiCarl , if it was vibs that was the problem , look at the fronts rigid as on mine..

I think the rears were for getting of and on [rider or pillion] having those wide mounts , mine are now rigid and not so wide , i do not think you'll have any dramas.

In fact the rears were so wide as when you'd judge a inbetween 2 cars scenario making sure the handlebars would fit , there was a extra 2inches following behind [the rear indicators]....

You should have no problem mounting them ridig. Th ebulbs can withstand vibration. The rubber mount was to allow the light some give if hit or kick during mounti or dismount or a close call with an object. So go ridig if you like and enjoy, hope it all works out for ya

    Nice looking bags.

Damned if I can see your signals though. Or is that them sticking out to the sides of the license plate?

Here's mine, mounted to a bracket on the sissy bar. Used the original lights.
