rear wheel issues

    hi i have 1982 xj750 i have chopped/bobbered frame and would like to beef up rear tyre size i have a 130 on but would like something bigger can anyone help thanks great site

    I don't think you'll be able to go with a tire that's any wider, or you'll be rubbing the shaft-drive housing.

    i have 20mm to drive shaft but iam concerned about putting wider tyre on and pulling it into narrow wheel rim i have drive shaft exposed no housing .i was thinking about putting a different rim on like a virago or something that is shaft driven any ideas thanks

    My friends virago has the same size wheel as my 81 xj650. I think all the shaft drive Yamaha's ran the same width rear wheel.

    If you go with a spoked Virago rim you can have another rim laced up that is wider so the wider tire fits properly.
    Contrast it with a super skinny front tire and a drum front brake !!
