550 Seca suspension; parts sources and recommendations?

    My forks aren't doing their job too well so I'll be rebuilding sometime soon. Will I notice much difference with progressive springs? I've seen them available somewhere but I don't recall where.

    The rear shocks are still functioning well. I do ride 2 up quite a bit and wonder if something beefier is a good idea or not and where I can find them.

    I'm running Progressive Suspension fork springs on one of my 550 Secas and a low-mileage set of stock springs in the other bike.

    The Progressive fork springs definitely make a difference; I will be upgrading the other bike as well.

    I'm also running Progressive's 12-series rear shocks and springs on both bikes. I went with the "standard" rather than "HD" springs because I was worried about upsetting the balance of the suspension. They work fine for me (200lbs, solo) in the middle preload position, and when I ride two-up I just crank 'em up and they're still fine. Depending on the combined weight of both riders and what percentage of the time you ride 2-up, you might consider the heavier springs.

    chacal (xj4Ever) carries the fork springs, I got my 12-series shocks from Bike Bandit.

    I second bigfitz on the Progressive 12 series shocks. I installed them on my 650 Seca and have been really pleased. I used the heavy duty spring though.

    I run on the first or second preload by myself (I'm a little over 200lbs) and the third with my wife. If I leave it on 2, she can go for a short jaunt around town without problems. I set it up for a longer or more spirited ride. I noticed an differnce immediately upon getting rid of the stock shocks. I probably had about 20K on the bike when I changed them and that was a year or so ago.

    I think I'll put the Progressive springs in the forks this winter.
