    Funny you should mention that...
Just wondering myself is there are mambers ready to get together for a ride on the 27th? I'm booked this weekend, but next Saturday looks like a plan.
Anyone interested can post it here or PM me and I'll set up some kind of ride then. Thanks! Dave >PD<

I suggest we get a ride set up soon, before summer is over!
I was ready to ride on the 27th, but not enough peeps were interested.
Next weekend is the 4th of July, so I figure everyone has already made plans for that day. SO let's plan one for the 11th of July and see if we gat any takers. Anyone? >PD<

I'm all for a ride soon. I haven't been out with the "boys" yet this season. Just local rides and to work when the weather permits.
Let's see is we can get some together for a day ride this time, eh?

Count me in for a ride. I have been wanting to do a tour from Hastings to Winona and back up the Wisconsin side, but am up for anything.

Sorry I couldn't get back to you's guys in time. We have enough water up here now! It's rained all day yesterday and raining all morning so far. Looks like another wet day all day today too (dammit)
They had some of the roads closed because of flooding during the night also.
Maybe I'll try to get down there next weekend. It sounds like it'll be cooling off and dry up this week, so it looks promising. We'll see what it looks like later this week. I'd like to make it down there soon to ride with you guys at least once this season.

My wife and I headed down Hwy 61 last night for a while. Made it all the way down to Wabasha (halfway between Red Wing and Winona) before we realized what time it was and decided to turn around and head back. Roads are nice and clear and the view around Lake Pepin as spectacular as always.

At this point, she and I are planning on doing the Flood Run on Sept 19th.

If we don't hook up for a ride before then, maybe we could shoot for meeting up for that?

I've been on both Flood Runs (spring and fall) and they are not much fun. The line of bikes is backed up for a mile at each stop sign, which starts some idiots to do burn-outs and the smell of rubber is over whelming sometimes. They're were also riders passing us on the shoulder (dangerous manuver to say the least)
Except for checking out some interesting bikes during the few stops along the way, it was not very much fun and actually quite dangerous at times. I will go riding down there that day, but not with those idiots!
Don't get me wrong. There are alot of nice, safe sensible riders on the run, but so many dick-weeds that mess it up and make it unsafe.

The Flood Run looks interesting, and I am seriously considering joining in for that (very worthwhile cause in my opinion considering that I have a developmentally disabled child). Being a new rider myself (just logged my first 1000 miles yesterday), I will be taking PainterD's advice and staying back a ways from the main group to minimize the "moron factor" from complicating having a safe and enjoyable ride.

On another note, the weather guessers are hinting that this weekend might be a dry one. Perhaps a pre-flood run ride would be in order this weekend.

    Comments/Suggestions?

Let's just pick a road and get lost for the day. There's plenty of good one with great scenery, hills and curves. We don't need no stinking 300 riders to follow. It's no fun, trust me.

I like the idea of adventuring on a random road and seeing where it leads. How does this weekend look to everyone?

Since neither of us heard back from PainterD, VirtualRider and I decided to head on out anyways. It was too nice of a day not to spend it out riding.

We got together at my place in St. Paul about 10:30, then rolled out about 11 headed for Hastings. We followed the route for the Flood Run, going from Hastings all the way down to Winona, then crossed over to Wisconsin and came up Wi-35.

Since my wife and I are collecting points for the HOG's ABC's of touring, we made stops in Hastings, Red Wing, Wabasha, Winona, Alma and Pepin for photo's, leg stretches and the obligatory smoke breaks. We grabbed lunch at Liberty's in RedWing and the only fuel stop we made was in Winona, right about the halfway (133mi) point.

Total round trip was about 250 miles and took us about 7.5 hours with all 7 photo stops, a fuel stop, lunch and some brief shopping at the Winona HD dealership. Mapquest had the straight through trip at about 5.5 to 6 hours with no stops, so overall I think we made good time on the trip.

We're planning getting together for another ride again soon and anyone who wants to join us would be more than welcome. We're thinking of running St. Croix Trail/Mn-95 up from Hastings/Prescott to Stillwater, then on to Taylors Falls. It's a much shorter run (~60 miles and 90 minutes non-stop) but has LOTS of twisty roads and some really nice scenery.

I hope you got my PM I sent Kyrinnstoch. SOrry I didn't make it. If I'd known you'd be leaving so late, I could've made it by 11:00 I guess. No biggie.
I'll make a special effort to be sure to come down for the next ride. Sounds like a good one! >PD<

PainterD, no, I didn't get your PM. I just checked and don't have anything recent from you. Did you get the spelling of my screen name correct?

Mn-Maxims, we'll do what we can to keep folks posted. At this point it's still in the idea phase. As much fun as it is to ride single or with another rider, it could be fun to get a larger group together.

PainterD, I received a PM from you, but didn't get around to checking Saturday morning before the ride. Sorry you couldn't make it. Hope everything is ok on your end of the world.

I had a great time riding with Kyrrinstoch down to Winona, the bike performed great especially after changing the oil the night before. I am giving very serious consideration to replacing the seat on the 550Seca, 28 year old seat foam just isn't as cushy as it used to be. Having the 1 hour numb butt syndrome really sucks.

It was a beautiful day for riding and some gorgeous scenery, I am looking forward to the next trip.
