petrol in oil wat?

    Well as most of u know i bought a yamaha maxim was told its all there,,, but never new the exhaust is tottally shot,,,,going to cost alot to get 1 any way i tried to turn her over, and im getting this great big smell of fuel, ? funny im using a little bowl instead of tank, to check if ok,, ive stripped carbs seem fine, done plugs etc, so i looked into it more, i dropped the oil out, bingo lots of fuel mixed in with oil,, done oil change,, she sniffs,and coughths out of carbs,,,when i try to get her started,and she wont,
    1 why did i have fuel in oil
    2 can it fire up, without exhausts
    any help please

    fuel in the oil is usually caused by sticking needles on the carbs
    if the headers are completely gone, I wouldnt fire it up

    i aint shaw how long the oil was in there, i hope i can get it all out,or clean it up, ill put a bit of fuel in bores, to clean and fire them up, i got the headers on the bike, but no centre box,or rear pipes,,,,

    as long as the headers are on, you will be fine.

    as for the oil, I would drain, fill and monitor to see if it keeps happening

    oo just noticed,while u are on, when i blew through the breather pipe on the left of the enjine,it was blocked,and the oil,petrol would come out of the pipe,new oil, clear,cranked her over a bit, shes blocked again,,,,

    Make sure the petcock is on reserve or run, Do not leave it in the prime position as it will fill the crankcase with fuel.

    i took out 5 litres? thats with petrol mixed in, i put 3 and a half in, i think, 3 quarters full on the oil sight on the side of enjine,,,

    They sell an affordable 4 into 1 in Europe for the XJ750 that should be able to be adjusted a little in the muffler hanger to fit your bike.

    You can run with just the "straight" pipes, but it'll sound like a dragster.

    You did buy a new filter?? The breather is (of course) supposed to breathe, so get some solvent/penetrant in there. If pressure builds in your engine, it's going to push out somewhere.

    ta mate for that, do u know where i can get an exhaust from, ie name of a place,,,, i aint buying nowt until engine fires up,i took it out and cleaned it up,once i dropped all the oil,then flushed it, and it seems like its blocked again, as i cant breath down it,

    Well, they call it a Positive Crankcase Vent, so, (not to be rude) did you try sucking on it?? 8O

    I don't remember the name of the major catalog vendor in Europe, it was mentioned here recently, can someone HELP OUT with that??

    sucking and pushing, i dont know alot on these bikes yet, but im learning, like how hard some parts are,bugger
