Well, living the luxurious life of a college student, I cant really buy name brand stuff anymore, at least not on hobbies, so, my creativity struck me and I bought these two things:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... K:MEWNX:IT

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... MEWNX%3AIT

and, now I have a yoshimura carbon fiber slip on exhaust, for about 45 bucks new, I'm just wondering, will this muffler get so hot that with will bake off the jb weld that I want to use to attach the logo with?

is there some other way to do it? I know most of the time Yoshi uses rivits, though I'm not sure I can do it, heh, maybe i can, if all this fart can is is a carbon fiber tube with a washer on the end of it for a silencer

so all i need now is a chrome 4-1, and some bent tubing to go from the headr to where i want the can, and to get it chromed

Hey Schooter, I'm doing something similar. i got this one.
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... MEWNX%3AIT

I don't plan on doing decals though. I already have a 4to1 exhaust. the opening is 2 1/2" the part I ordered is only 2 1/4, but i'll take it to a muffler chop and ask them to stretch it to fit over 2 1/2

for some reason I have a problem putting a logo on it and faking it like that.

I'd rather have ppl know that my ingenuity and effort put an exhaust on my bike.

    But good idea...

JB Weld is some pretty tough stuff. I dont think the can will get hot enough to hurt it. Just scuff up the area your going to attach to so you get a good bite.

BTW i agree w/ leaving the emblem off....

Haha... I JB welded a straight pipe onto my old VW cabriolet after removing the catalytic converter. It said it was good for 600 degrees. Got another 10,000 miles (give or take) out of the beast before throwing a rod in it. The cold weld hung in there for that time.

I know a man that patched a engine block from a tractor with JB Weld. Tractor's still going after 15 years.

isn't it a sticker? just put it on there then. that is what cobra does on their F1S line of mufflers. It'll be fine. If the decal is tin, then rivet away.

Dammit you! Get on this! I need to hear this thing sooooo bad!

As far as sound goes, most small engine cars with these on them sound terrible because all they do is hack the muffler off and put this on. Neglecting the fact that most factory exhaust systems use smaller diameter piping. What happens is the sound waves bounce around tightly inside the factory piping, and when they get to the new, larger diameter, muffler piping it just bounces around and comes out. It does baffle some of the sound, but not nearly as much as it would with matched piping. There is a very clear difference between a cat-back system, and a welded on muffler.

As far on a motorcycle, I'd be very interested in seeing how this compares to a slip-on.

This took 5 minutes (20 if you count drinking) and cut the sound in half !!
