    Hi All,

My names Steve I own a XJ650G, bought it from 2nd Owner in 88 ($575). Just wanted to say Hello, for some I probably have talked with before I have been mostly away for the last 4 years just finishing up a long tour in Okinawa. Left the bike with Dad which turned out to be a mixed blessing.

He (Dad) replaced the tank (found NOS) somewhere, when I left it was leaking gas from rust-through. Replaced the tires the metzlers I had on it still had plenty of tread left but were showing signs of weather checking (happy for the new tires, however, would have personally went without white letters). Replaced the gas cap (another key to keep track of) but doesn't spurt gas out anymore when I leave the station. Replaced the Tach or fixed the needle that had broken off many years ago not from red lining I guess the old girl just gave up the ghost.

Sadly he had someone (who didn't know crap) work on the carbs  but my good friend & I were able to square that away and I am back riding her again after some time away.

I've decided this winter if I can line up the parts to take her to the next level  by chroming all the unboltables with the exception of maybe the shock tubes. I am thinking all the covers including the cam cover and the passenger foot peg brackets and maybe an oil pan if I can get one cheap enough...I could disassemble the bike but I would prefer to find the parts, so I can continue to ride while everything is away at the shop.

My only other major mods / repairs over the years have been:
    Recover Seat (needs it again)
Install Drag Specialities Sissy Bar & Pad 8) (super cool if you can find one)
Install light rails on sissy bar side arms
    Replace stocker pipes with Mac
    Replace fork tube seals

Finally I really appreciate the XJ Forum and look forward to assisting where possible, there hasn't been much that I haven't seen or done. Also I am looking forward to meeting anyone in the General Area and that includes Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and Kentucky and offer my place to any of you that may find yourselves in/around the Nashville/Chattanooga area.

    Steve

Welcome back Steve. I may be in Nashville this weekend. Thinking about buying a Seca 750 for sale up there.

Glad to hear your home safe and sound. Got an aunt and uncle in Knoxville, perfect excuse to head out that way. Okinawa, must be a Marine. You boys 'been busy, bet your glad you got your tour out of the way. You might want to take your old tank and see if you can't fix it, nothing to loose and you might help a few others decide if they can fix their leaking tanks too. Heck, if it turns out well, you could sell it off for a tidy profit.

Not a marine, USAF would be the business although Okinawa is swarming with Marines...You and anyone else in the area are always welcome when in or through this area...The tanks gone, although I expect it could have been fixed but that's dads way I guess?

USAF would have been my second guess, but given the numbers... Glad you are home safe and sound regardless.
