Hi, hopefully somebody can give me a hand. I am waiting for my manual to come in the mail. I am still impressed that the bike is in original stock form and mostly taken care of. I plan on polishing all aluminum parts (side cover bezel, side rail that the grab rail bolts onto etc. and stripping everything down over the winter and cleaning everything I can.

    1. What goes in-between the bolt that goes frame and the rail that the grab rail bolts to? For some reason the previous owner had the signals jammed in there. I moved them back their proper location now have a big gap. If it is a big spacer I can machine one on my little metal lathe.

You can see in the following picture (above the black part of the turn signal)

    2. Where is the auto-cancellation module for the signals located?

    Thanks,

    Andrew

    Thanks for the site into.

What is the approximate width? I will just use a bunch of washers for now.

Also, anybody have any info on the auto canceling module for the signals?

Our resident parts guy maybe your solution for that part if its the problem.. If not they come up on Ebay once in a while. If they will not cancel by themselves I try cleaning all of the connections in the circuit first. Also the switch assembly in the LH control might need some attention. The problem could also be the reed switch in the speedo or the wringing associated with it. I can measure the spacer on my buddies 750 in the am and get back to you

    Hydronaut,
That spacer is 1/4 in thick.
Also, the self canceling turn signals only work when the bike is moving. They won't cancel when the bike is sitting still. I'm not sure if you were aware of this.

Don't know about the Maxim, but the SECA uses rubber washers between the grab rail and the frame.

The cancelling module is mounted to the frame under the tank.

    Cheers,
    Paul

a quarter inch is about right but if your making your own, bolt on the grab bar
and measure the gap, that way the grab bar won't spread or squeeze the side rails

Thanks for the advice everybody. Just going to machine some rubber spacers from a hockey puck. Not sure why the guy before me had the signals bolted in their instead of their proper place... But then I don;t know why a lot people do certain things.

As for the canceling unit. Lot of cheap ones on eBay and the same ones where used in a number of bikes.

To answer one of the question I am aware that the bike needs to be moving. What is the best way to troubleshoot this circuit? Also, do I need to pull the tank to get at the module?

You can just jack the front wheel up and turn it a bunch of times and they should shut off. The module lives under the tank on the 1100s but I've not had to chase it on one of the 650s yet.
