Ok..not sure wether this should be in tech or mods....but since it's for a mod..I put it here.

I need a part that looks like this
    [IMG]

needs to be steel so I can weld to the inside of my rear fender. This will reinforce the fender where the mounting bolts come through as well as act as a spacer between the fender and strut. Ya think this would be a pretty easy beast to find with the internet and all...but noooooo.... I can find nylon what-cha-ma-who-zits, and bronze/brass....but no steel. I could use a shouldered drill bushing, but don't feel like paying upwards of $15 each for this item (I need 6) So c'mon all u modders out there...any ideas?!!?

I thought about that and would do that except... the 'head' of the sleeve (which would be the washer) is where the mounting bolt seats so that has to be nice and flat. The other side has to mate up with the side-wall of the fender, so the corner between the washer and pipe needs to be pretty sharp. Now with that design criteria in mind, me trying to weld a washer and pipe to meet those criteria is like trying to sweep a horse under the rug so no one notices! 8O I haven't mastered welding yet, that's why I weld with the mig in one hand and a grinder in the other !! 8O 8O LOL

I may just go with spacers. I got the struts all mounted and the fender drilled and threw the bolts in to verify fit and everything was very solid!! I'll have to see how it progresses....

That's some pretty cool stuff. Pretty intuitive cad system. Pricing is high, looks to be about $65-75/hr It calculated those parts at $27 each 8O
I can go through a lot of washers and pipe for $162!!! lol

I will give you exactly what you want for $22.00 plus a few bucks for shipping!!! I can have them ready to ship tomorrow. They will look exactly like your picture and work flawlessly. No messing around with something that isn't exactly what you wanted. Come on, you spent TWO HOURS on the internet and then you are going to mess around with welding washers to pipe?!!! emachine is like an online Mcmaster Carr for machining. Way over priced for what you are getting. Look, they want $162 for what I will give you for $22! They make it easy in that it's like one stop shopping but they sure are overpriced. Right here on this website you guys have a fellow xjer that can give you machined parts for prices that can't be beat.

i should buy mirco's parts and sell them to Mad for a profit and put the extra cash in my bike. I mean if he's dead set on overpaying then why not make his money work for a fellow XJer right?!?!?!

seriously though, buy mirco's stuff and save the cash.

I gotta agree with the rest of these guys, let a fellow Xjer fix you up.

We should all take note of the fact that there is a resource available here with the skill/talent micro appears to have. Never know when it may come in handy.

You know, it might be an idea to open up another catagory for the XJBike site. A "service offered" from members in good standing. Sort of like what Len does but, for stuff like parts manufacture, CNC fab work, carb cleaning and the like. I would much rather give my business to someone that knows my bike and is known to this site. Just a thought.

    Cheers
    Ken

Yeah, I like this idea too. If there are guys on this site that can offer a service or product that we can use I would much prefer to give them my hard earned dollars than Wallyworld!
