made a newbee mistake and put to much oil in during a oil change the first time. Needless to say oil flowed out of her onto the ground from the airbox. Since then I drained what was there and added the correct amount of oil. Only problem is now the oil light keeps coming on dimly and flickers bright from time to time??? Did I just totally screw up the seals/oil pump? suggestions? oh and its a xj600s, 1994

it is possible that it caused a problem with the pump, but not likely. typically a seal will start leaking if it is over-filled due to increased pressure.
if the light flickers, when does it do it? at idle? under load?

it will do it pretty much at any rpm speed. changing the rpms will make it flickers brighter or dimmer, usually worse at mid range rpms. After the bike has warmed up for awhile it goes away except for once in awhile. both under load and not.

did take the air filter out and it was dripping with oil...would that cause this? I know that the oil got there when I overfilled it cause it was coming out the airbox. since then i have put the correct ammount in.
