Whats the best way to pull the carbs on this bike. It looks real tight to get them off and I don't want to break any thing.

If you dont drain the fuel from the carb bowls first you'll have it coming out as you remove the carbs. I take out the 2 10mm bolts that hold the airbox in place on the side of the frame to allow it to move back for more clearance. Loosen the 3 carb to head and 3 carb to airbox boot clamps. Pull the carb rack back free from the carb to head boots and twist it out of the air box boots, undo the throttle cable and slide it out.

Been tempted by a couple of triples this year, good thing I don't have money or I'd have to pave my lawn to make room for bikes......

Wish most of the ones I find interesting weren't 25+ years old :)

I slid the air box back as far as it would go and the boots are still touching the intake side of the carbs. Looks like a struggle to get these out.

thought my maxim was tight till i bought my triple. coming out i loosened the air box boot clamps and pushed the boots into the airbox. then removed the carbs from the motor side boots. going in i put the carbs on with the air box angled down i could put those boots on the carbs then tilt the box up as i pushed them into the box. i think it would look easier to install the air box if out, put boots on carbs, install carbs while tweeking the box then tilt the box up into place. that way the you don't have to squeeze the boots between the carb bodies and air box. like i said after this my maxim seems like a piece of cake.

I'm going to pop the boot into the air box as you suggest and hope that gives me enogh room to get these things off. You can bet your bottom dollar they will be perfect when they go back on. I'm not playing this game more than once.

The rewards are worth it. I have two and they are a couple of my favorites to ride. Tractor with a growl!

gl, patience seems to be best. as you put it together it just kinda presents itself with the best way to do so.
