new XJ owner in western NY, first question....

    at 16,500 you should really check your valve clearances. If they've never been touched, which is a good possibility, the bike is right at the mileage where things will begin to get critical if neglected any longer. Yes, it "runs fine" as far as you can tell; but if you do have a tight valve or two, (or six) once corrected, it will run even better. It's not something you can hear, or feel. That's a really nice bike; just make sure that some of the more difficult maintenance items weren't simply ignored as often happened.
