It's time for new tires, and as I live in seattle and commute on my bike (when it's probably going to be a day with snow on the ground, I will drive my car, but 95% of the time I plan on riding all winter, as I did in arizona. my rain/cold gear is great.) I'm concerned about wet weather traction and possible snow traction. What tread pattern should I look for for maximum wet and snow traction? are sport bike tires going to be the best bet, or cross tread? preferences on brands? I'm not looking for extreme dry grip (I am not a fan of getting the bike so far over that I scrape a peg.) more "safety in rain" since I'm not really a street racer (I have a race car, and I keep it on the track.)

I've Dunlop D404's on one 550 Seca and Avon AM26 RoadRiders on the other. Both work VERY WELL in the wet. I don't "do" snow.
