    Hi listers,

My Maxim X started acting up once seafoam was added. Hence i decided to take the carbs apart. Cleaned the carbs, bench sync`d, clunk testd. I cleaned every jets n passages with carb cleaner and air hose. Only the starter enricher piston was left out as i was not sure how to take it apart as the cross bar link was on way for access.

--------------- safety circuit background - The bike always starts only when side stand up and clutch pulled in -------------------------

It started in one shot before taking carb off but rpm would gradually come down.

It started after quite a few cranks after carb clean..but would die without choke or while twisting throttle. Afterwards only starter motor is turning i dont hear the engine firing...to avoid the possibilty of petcock malfuction on reserve i added 5 liters of gasoline. Battery is fully charged and has lot of juice. Its got Iridium plugs in. All electrical connectors including ignition wires n plug caps are revitalised with dielectric grease.

    My question is ...

    1. The Ignition occasionally dont turn the system on. (when key turned) but otherwise when it turns the system on can it still cause this trouble.

    2. Can it be related to bench sync where it said a sliver light should pass thru the butterfly and venturi walls on all carbs.(The pilot screws are set at 3 turns except carb 4 which is buggered)

    Any help appreciate guys...Thanks.

    Did you fill the carbs?
Put the petcock on Prime and let it fill them for a couple minutes to make sure they are at proper levels.

Did you change all the pilot screws in the cleaning process?

When you are in neutral, and turn the key does the neutral light come on?

If you didn't break the carbs apart, you probably shouldn't have messed with the sync.
Are you positive you have the enrichment tube clean?

The seafoam will sometimes break gunk loose only to have it find it's way to a worse spot and cause more problems.

Thanks desinger..yes i did prime a min and saw fuel go in and stop at one point. i did blow out 3 pilot screws with c/cleaner carb4 pilot screw buggerd could not take out. I left it with 3 turns from bottom.
Neutral light does not come on..i know i got to work on the safety circuit..likely neutral switch but usually starts with sidestand up and clutch in..
Also could the airleaks at the boot (2 are bad) cause this problem.??
    Thanks again
