yeah thats the look i was goin for , "when bikes where bikes " so to speak ;) yeah im prob goin to get some clipons later or maybe some clubman bars , there isnt much point making a xj650 look like a new bike cause its just to hard , i like old school

Thats very sweet, kind of old indian/triumph style. I love it and I agree no use making an Xj look new, go for old school

good job i really like what you`ve got going on there, looks like an old school bike for sure bare bones, simple. 50`s - 60`s looking, definetly would look twice to see what it was as you flew by. keep up the great work.

    Nice.
...though, I kinda liked how the gauges look in your avatar where the speedo is missing. It looks hardcore. lol

hey thanks guys for all the support , i love the bike it makes me smile every time i walk up to it , then when i ride it i remember that there are still a few things i need to fix, just the suspension atm.
Mercuralis im still working on some sort of new speedo cluster arrangement. but i do agree with u that just the tacho looks tuffer , but i there are a few to many cops around here so a speedo is nice , i might take it off again tho lol
    cheers guys

I used to just remember what speeds were at which RPM's. For example, 45 mph is 2400, 55 is 2700, 65 is 3000 (this was in my old truck, that's why the RPM's are much lower than the bike). I think over half of the cars and bikes I've ever owned have had non-working speedos... 8O

yeah man i like the exhaust, its not that loud. some times i run it with no muffler and just a little kicker tip i made lol. thats loud sounds like a motogp bike hahah. i drilled out the muffler and put some more fireproof fibreglaa in there so it got a nice tone. you can here the carbies with the open filters on there and they sound the best. i always get ppl commenting on how good it sounds  . i do have a flat spot around 5000rpm but it worth it. it has great top end charge with the exhaust and filters

Dude, Ive liked your bike since I first layed eyes on it. Something about it says; "Mad Max" to me or "road warrior". And whats totally cool about it is that you made it your own. You wont see another one like it! and if you do its probably because you inspired someone else with an xj. One thing I would try (just to see how it looks" is; fabricating some polished alluminum side panels with vent holes in them, kinda like a billet grille to a customized truck. Or you you could just leave it like it is cuz it truly looks like an early cafe racer.
