    I dont know about being better but they are nice bikes. I had a '79 xs11 and an '82 xj1100 maxim. They are quite fast for being so large and they are very hard to kill. Second gear is weak and has a habit of popping out of gear but the fix is cheap and you can pull out the trans shaft without removing the engine from the frame. I build my '82 out of a box of parts when I was 14 and drove the crap out of that bike. Had to fix 2nd gear in short order but it wasnt a bad job. There's nothing like going 135mph on something you pieced together out of a pile of parts.

    I'd rather be on something I pieced together than something someone else did! LOL
