Guy's there is a person wanting to sell or trade an 81 xs1100 for a smaller bike for his son. He just bought the xs 1100 and it is too powerfull for his son. He may be interested in trading for my 83 xj750. Both bikes seem to be in like condition. Both start and run pretty good. Question is which is the better bike?

On 2 wheels... just lost my hat.
1100's are hard to find in decent shape and are very good bikes.
I personally favor the XJ, but an XS1100 is a very good bike. I would prob trade.

I have 2 XS11's at this time, and I'm looking at a 3rd. Great bikes for cruising.
What model is it, a special, midnight special(gold) or a standard ?
What kind of mileage on it?

As noted, 2nd is problematic but there is a fix. Steering head bearings are often neglected and worn.
Plenty of support over on XS11 forum.

    Do the trade!

XS11s were the fastest production bike from 1979 to 1981.

She's a screamer when she's tuned right. I can get disoriented when I crack the throttle on Scorpion!

Also, my XS11, with a shaft drive, will do a wheelie!

There are a bunch of XS11'ers in Houston. I ride with them a couple of times a year. We usually do Hill country rides. Its cool to see a line of XS11s tooling down hwy 281.
