So there I am folks, ending an excellent two day five hundred mile ride with a friend of mine when from behind me I hear a Tink! Tink! Tink!
I pull the bike into a driveway and noticed that my buddy has stopped and soon arrives holding a foot of my Left Megaphone!!!!!! So boys what am I to do? My father, a welder with 27yrs of experience says that it cannot be repaired, so I think I may just slash cut them and run open. Any opinions are appreciated. Cheers

you can always look at sportster mufflers to replace yours. they are relatively cheap and have a nice sound to them

X2 on Sporty muffs. Very cheap, and usually brand new.

straight pipes are too freaking loud. sportster mufflers are $30 with pages to choose from on ebay. i ran them for some time, i liked the sound.

What model XJ do you have? I have a decent full exhaust for an 80-83 Maxim 650. Pm me if this is something you may be interested in purchasing. Failing that, the Sporty muffs would be a great choice.
    Best of luck to you!

what size or year sportster mufflers would fit on my 82 550 maxim? i dont like the look or sound of the megaphones and straight pipes seem like they would be too loud

xjrookie, thank you for your kind words.

I expected such warm hearted encouragement from you as you are a person of such obvious class and integrity.

the difference is rookie, you were posting a sale, and you did change your prices from the begginning of the post to the later stages, its undeniable, as you can read the progression. I was merely making a comment on that fact. You're the one who, as always seems to be the case with you on this forum, completely over reacted and cussed me, insulted me, and just generally showed what caliber person you really are. but you feel free to make comments, because unlike when I made an observation, your sad attempts at giving me some of my own medicine just look sad and vindictive. Let it go man, I made a comment and you couldn't take it. That sort of thing can happen, you shouldn't stay so angry and vindictive, it's just such a sorry way to spend your days. Be safe on the road. Cheers

call it an observation or whatever you wish to call it ,the point i made was you came on my thread and hijacked it to promote your sarcastic nonsense when you had no interest what so ever in the products being sold there so that shows me what kind of person you are,we will never see eye to eye on this so no need for us to continue it i wish you well and hope you do the same for me,good day to ya

Rookie, lighten up. Life is so short and being bitter takes to much time. You should be spending your time out on the open road loving each day as they are gifts.

KingPin, I'd go for the sportster exhaust personally.

    My $.02
