I have leather jacket and good helmet. I also spent lots of time practicing in parking lot before venturing out onto the road. I still appreciate the helpful tips.

I will be taking bike for good long ride tomorrow. The injury to knee is almost completely healed. I hope this ride will be better than last one.
I will try to straighten brake lever but have purchased new one encase it breaks. I will be adjusting mixture screw on clean plug to make it a bit richer because of post I read here that plug is running to lean.

if you straighten it, use a propane torch to get it hot at the bend and use a vise to try to straighten it up
if that doesnt work, replace it. it's a cheap fix

I was think same thing. I am fortunate that bike is at brother in law`s where I have access to torch and vise. Brother in law does hydraulic repairs and also builds motorcycles. As mention have new one to replace and yes they are cheap

I will not ride bike until next weekend due to injury while out on first ride. I am ok except for sore knee. The injury will not deter me from riding again just need time to heal.

Armored clothing does not need to be expensive to be effective. I wear Olympic gear now that I have the hoydy toydy Beemer but I used to have armored gear that was VERY inexpensive.

My coat was purchased over the web from www.leatherup.com. My riding pants were purchased from www.jafrum.com

Both companies offer good quality gear at amazing prices. Both companies provided excellent customer service.

Give them a look. I think my cost for coat and pants was $135.00. I paid $920 + tax for 2 sets of Olympic gear.

Kinda ridiculous but both sets match and they are 3 season. Mesh with insulated waterproof liners.

I rode bike last Sunday. I was have good ride until bike had total electrical shut down. I check main fuse and it look good but upon further inspection it was not good. The fuse was not blown but when checked with ohm meter had some resistance. Replace with new fuse and bike fired up with no problem.

I decide to just replace bent lever with new one.

I did not have chance to recheck plugs to see if adjustments made any difference. I will check tomorrow.

I checked plugs today. No. 1 plug still black, all other have tan color on electrode and insulator. No problems with starting bike. I think I have carbs finally adjusted probably.

if you are still rich on 1, you arent adjusted properly.
I would do a plug chop at 4k rpm and see what they look like then. if it still a little black, adjust your idle mix screw on the carb about 1/8th turn in and recheck with more chops
