How tight should valve stems be tightened?

    It appears to be a cork gasket so I didn't want to torque it to much.

    Valve stems?

    Not sure what you mean here. I would think this would be either the intake and exhaust valves, which don't, themselves, get tightened (and use rubber seals), or valves on the wheels.

    The valves in the wheels.
    They are made of metal not rubber and have a nut to tighten them down.
    I was loosing pressure in the front and back and could not find the leak.
    It turned out to be leaking around the stem were the nut meets the rim.
    They were both very loose, almost finger tight.
    So I tightened them down to the point were they no longer leak but, they are still not very tight

    Do they have a jam nut on them? When i changed mine they came with a rubber seal, washer and two nuts each. I tightened until the rubber was sealed but not flattened and then tightened the jam nut down on them. About 1,000 miles now and no leaks.
