sorry dumb question please help

    :roll: ok so i am new to this type of bike and i cant seem to find a rear master cylinder on it the bike is a 1982 yamaha xj550 do these even have a rear m/c it has drum brakes in the rear please let me know thanks in advance poorman

    MC are only for disc brakes to apply pressure thru fluid to apply brakes. If its drum brakes you would find your foot brake linked to a linkage that turns the brake lever at the Drum activate the brake shoes. No ques is dumb..some ask and learn easy..some learn the hard way..Cheers and welcome to the site...XJ550 is a nice machine. Good luck.

    Yu r welcome. Best way to gain knowldge is by lookin around..diffrnt makes and compare them..Ofcouse read forum. it could get addictive.
