I replaced my turn signals on my 1981 Midnight Maxim with after market signals. They light up but don't flash. I have read about problems others have had and know that I'll probably need to replace flasher. The one on mine has four prongs. What will I need and how will I wire it up?

The stock flasher requires a certain amount of current draw to operate properly (flash.) Aftermarket signals (even non-LED) often don't draw enough. If they're not LEDs then simply exchange the bulbs for 27W bulbs; if LEDs then you will need to add resistors.

If you replace the flasher relay you'll lose the self cancellng feature unless you want to do a bit of electrical engineering.

electronic flasher did nothing for mine. had to get load resistors. they did the trick.
