    Hello Gurus,

    Can I put a turbo 650 head on my non-turbo 650?

    Are they the same head?

Completely different head. The turbo head has smaller intake/exhaust ports so it would likely hurt performance on the n/a engine.

I think the turbo models have lower compression.

The cam specs are different- - no overlap
The lower compression might come from the special pistons.
I would think the basic casting is the same, but I don't know.
It's drilled for YICS, but that wouldn't matter.
If the combustion chamber volume is the same, and the valve sizes were the same, and the runners had the same volume (easy to measure)
you would want to use your old cams, and need to shim all 8.

The intake and exhaust ports are smaller in diameter. I have verified this by checking my 650 turbo engine versus my 650 maxim engine. The turbo engine does have lower compression but it is due to the pistons not the head. I believe the turbo heads also have smaller valves also but I do not feel like pulling the heads on my engines and finding out.
