    Hello,
I have attached a picture of my engine from my 1986 XJ700 Maxim.
As you can see the paint is off and looks real bad.
I was thinking about removing the paint and leaving it silver maybe polish it up.
Opinions on what would be the best way to take the rest of the paint off without removing eninge ?
I am waiting for my XJ CD to see what a challenge it would be to remove items to make it easier but not sure how to proceed.
    Any help would be appriciated.
    Thanks
    Brian

Soda blast will probably remove the paint, however it will remove anything it touches, like paint on the frame. Trying to mask anything you don't want stripped could be difficult. Same is true for chemical strippers. The best would be to remove the engine from the frame then strip it with some sort of media blast. Chemicals may discolour the aluminum. You have to decide what you want and then bite the bullit and do it correctly. Don't try shortcuts and expect it to look right.
