tickover

    :( any ideas guys why my xj650 is hanging on revs ONLY when i dial in the tickover knob to get it to tickover, when i wind the tickover knob completely out obviously it wont tickover but will rev prefectly with no hanging revs??????, iv checked for vacuum leaks & all is good, cheers in advance, Sean :(

    Seriously, that's what it is. I wasn't trying to be 'glib.'

    You have at least one cylinder, that when the idle knob is screwed in enough to produce an idle, is opening TOO far and causing that cylinder to "respond to throttle" (the slide actually starts to lift) causing your condition.

    When you back the knob all the way off, that one (or more) is/are now closing, but the OTHERS are closed too far to be able to produce an idle.

    mines got the same problem after breaking the rack to fix a leak i didnt put much care into syncing them. i just need to find time to get them back off the bike again
