1982 xj750rj seca streetfighter build

alright ive posted some pics of some little mods ive done to my seca but im afraid im going to start making some big changes!
I have also pick up a second Seca and am going to make a hard tail bob as well. The album is coming thanks for all your insight. :twisted:

 

start stock boring

 

step two handle bars, 4 into one and forward controls, and air filters and jet kit

 

step three new tires, shorter rear shocks, new bars,

 

step 4, new mirrors, strip down, new blinks (led), mod out tail light, pop off fender

 

well that will get you up to date on my project. Ive enjoyed looking at everyone elses projects so i put mine on. next.....
gauges and lights, change out to traditional hydraulic mc and braided lines.
i was thinking about an acewell gauge any comments???

 

What bars did you use? I like them

How is your bike running after adding those pods? Did you do anything else besides the pods, like bigger jets, etc...?

 

YEAH I PURCHASED THE DYNOJET STAGE 1 AND 3 KIT FROM DYNOJET.
LIKE 120 BUCKS OF EBAY. I ENDED UP WITH BIGGER JETS AND DIFFERANT NEEDLES AND DRILLED THE SLIDES. NOT FOR SURE ON DRILLING THE SLIDE I AM GOING TO PUT SOME STOCK ONES BACK IN AND SEE IF IT ACCELERATES HARDER. iT RUNS REALLY GOOD WITH THE CARBS SYNCED AND THE A/F MIXTURE GOOD FOR MY ALTITTUDE.

 

:twisted: the lights and gauges are gone, i will be replacing the controls, lights, gauges and brake lines asap!! pic coming soon.... :twisted:

 

Their is nothing wrong with the classic looking atari gauges, but in todays time you need something a little more mean looking. Any of todays gauges would look better than the ataris. I am looking foward to seeing the completed project. Good work it is looking great.

well i havent posted any updates for a while. I finally got my battery box finished and my fender mounted and mt electronics panel mounted as well.

After i stripped my frame down completely I cut all the extra brackets off.
the I welded up all the holes. I cut the ass end off and welded up some sheet metal over the tubes to get the shape I was after.
I wanted to mount a fender with the same lines as the rear frame tube.
I couldn't decide how to mount it. I wanted to do something a little different then the hard tail bobbers. Im building one of those too.
SO i built the battery box welded in a plate for the electronics. mounted the box to it and mounted the fender to the box. It works great i also weled some nuts into the frame on the inside to mount the rear fender so it would have four mounting locations. It turned out good I'm pretty jazzed about it.
i cant wait to get it blasted so i can paint and put it together. I am still trying to figure out what seat, what seat, what seat!

Hey Bossnoss, what are the switches in the battery box for? And why did you make the box so big? are you doing something with the other space?
It's looking good.

 

i made the box big to replicate an oil tank. and to fill the space so it didnt look like a big empty hole. no switches on the tank just bolts welded in to mount it to the frame

 

here is a pic of the bike almost finished. i need to get some more recent ones. i have been riding it for some time and it rides really nice. i havent painted it though it is in junkyard form if you will. rat bike hahaha
