By the time I saw this auction it had ended. What kind of xj are we talking about? If it is a maxim I might can help, if it is a seca someone else will have to jump in.

Good buy! I sold my boots alone for 30 bucks. If he doesn't include hardware, you will just need to pickup a couple of bolts from the hardware store to attach it to the frame. Fix that crack with some epoxy, and hope he includes the top cover :)

Hope you got the top cover coz its what holds the filter in place, having to remove engine to put the box in may be a nuisance, but in the end worth it.

Well you have to remove/displace engine to get the box out in one piece so ya must have to do that in reverse to get it in, in one piece. For ease of tuning its better in.

Hmmmm, what else has to be removed to slide the engine up? I might just strategically break the airbox, install it, then somehow epoxy it back together. It's just a plastic box.

Drop the front of the engine via removing both the upper and lower front engine mounting bolts.......and loosen the rear engine mtg. bolt, that way the engine can "tilt" forward and down a bit.

after first removing the exhaust system.

Yes, it's just a plastic box, but that "plastic" is some of the most adhesive-resistent stuff on the planet.

You might be able to distort it enough to force it in if you warm it up first (soak in a tub of hot water) but I don't know.

I DO know that it's not possible on the 550s.
