    Everything works.. Lights, siren.... 8)

I think they want about $5000 NZD for it (but that's just a guess)... So about $3500 USD.

I'll be sure to ask when I go take a look :)

How mean is this... been looking for one of these Police specials for months and nothing and now there are 2 up for sale on the same day.

This one is not as complete or as close to home, but it is going to sell for a lot less

The perfect solution for those days when you are late and need to get through traffic!

It's nice to see a Police Bike that's not one of those huge Harley's with all the running boards and chrome.

I would love to buy it but the only way that would be possible is if I was to swap the 900 for it and I want both

I reckon with a new paint job and a few other small jobs it could be a really nice bike to own... Especially being an ex cop bike

The auction site pulled the auction... must have had a complaint, but I got his number and left a message for him to call me.

Might be running out of cash... have the leading bid on the turbo that finishes in an hour

    *sniff sniff* :(

Missed out on the Turbo because I wasn't prepared to go over $1200 NZD and the Police bike has pretty much sold for 4,700.00 NZD, 3,234.17 USD
I don't have the 5k to ride it away today.... Oh well, such is life...

Time to take the 900 for a blat :D

It's quite hard to see in the pics but the white bike is showing it's age and would require a strip down, cleanup, repaint to get it to mint condition, but it is all there.

Very expensive for a old police bike! Cool though :) Do you know why TradeMe pulled the auction? They seem to do that alot with no reason given to the watchers.

Edit: The White Police XJ has been relisted on TradeMe again. End Edit

Green one looks to be a good cheap ride though.

Gudday all, 1st post in here for me!

I'm currently rebuilding an XJ750 Police Model and was wondering if anybody knew of any links for spares etc.?

I've had the fairing and panniers plastic welded so they are set for painting but I would like to track down the correct Paint Code just to be sure.

I've got a chap at MOTAT who'll, hopefully, be able to measure and photograph their XJ's radio box for me so I can build a repro one for mine.

I have the lights, although one of the bar lights is blue, the siren and ticket box but don't have a radio.

Any help or pointers would be appreciated!

    Cheers!

    Johnno

I'm down in the King Country, I have some pics already thanks, I might have to try a colour swatch from the local paint shop and see if I can get a match! lol

You thought about asking the police? They can't have changed the colour that much, maybe they would let you get a match of one of the current bikes

Yup, frame, fairing, panniers, side panels all done, had new "Police" stickers made for the side panels. Finally finished the wiring, time for some new rubber and a wof and Im good to go!

    Whew! Nearly there.

Here's a pic I took after she got a WOF today.

Think I'm gonna have to rechrome the bars before I attached the panniers and side panels.

One last problem I'm having is the Battery Warning light is always on, its charging OK so not sure whats going on there, any suggestions?

The sensor needs to go in a specific cell of the battery.
If it's not in the right one you can get a warning light.
I can't remember which cell it is but, there was just a thread on this last week.
Should be at the top of a search.

Got the chrome back today, mmmmmmm shiney!

Will post another pic when it's fitted along with the panniers.

I don't suppose anyone has any spare panniers while I'm here?

3,200Kl, is that really all its done? Looks good...the fairing is frame mounted I assume..do you know what brand it is? Maybe its off a 900, not often I like the look of fairings, but I can see the point.

Here's the Fix on the Battery Warning Light.

Splice a wire into the +12V Source of the Wiring Harness near the Wire for the Battery Sensor.

You need a +12V - Switched - Source that's powered by the Ign. Switch.
(The Wire which feeds the Tail-Light (Not Brake Light) works great!)

Add a 1/2 Watt - 2K Ohm Resistor to the Wire you Spliced into the Read Tail Light Power Wire.
Splice a wire to the Resistor.
    Shrink wrap or tape.

Splice the Wire running from the Resistor to the Sensor Wire.
Warning Light goes out after Circuit senses voltage presence at right value.

    Tail Light>/>----Wire>/>Resistor**>/>----Wire>/>Sensor Lead

    ** 2K Ohms - 1/2 Volt Resistor.

Hmmm theres been more chopping on this wiring than there was in the French Revolution!

The W/R (White/Red) wire From the battery sender has been cut off at the edge of the loom and the W/R wires going into the ignition switch have been cut off just prior to going into the rear of the switch.

Now I see from the wiring diagram that the W/R goes into the ignition switch and then out again and into the computer, changing color to L/W (Blue/White) just before it enters the computer.

Does anyone know if I can just put a feed of, say, + 5V INTO the L/W wire going into the computer, thereby bypassing all the other wiring that would have come from the battery sender?

    Any suggestions please?

Yeah, mine has that too, after about the fourth homeless bum or random friend pointed it out I took it off. Guess what, it only fits upside down. I guess somebody got some other Yamaha cover from a non-maxim. oh well

The electrolyte level sensor goes into the fourth cell from the - end of the battery, so it should be expecting about 8V. You could use a resistor or a pair of resistors as a voltage divider to locally provide that 8V back to the computer up at the yoke end of the bike.

I will add, though, that, from my perspective, this is a hack/bypass, not a fix, unless part of the fix is to install an AGM battery as well. On my GPz somebody "fixed" the battery sensor, and I've trying to think what to do to fix it back, without having to spend $40 just for a new sensor.

    Cheers,
    Paul

Have put in the resistor as previously mentioned, looks good, occasionally the warning light still comes on so I'm thinking I need a slightly lower resistor or there's a break somewhere.

More importantly, nearly ended up in a ditch coming home after dark.

Riding along, happy as Larry when POW, no lights!

Instrument panel, low beam, high beam, side/parking all gone burger!

It was only luck that it happened on a straight!

After my arse had sucked up the seat leather and I'd managed to come to a halt I checked the fuse box, yup, blown 15A fuse, spares on board and light from the cell phone and back in action.

Think I might have to wire the parking/side lights up to a different fuse so that if it ever occurs again, I should still have enough light to (hopefully) see the fog line and center line.

Has anyone had any similar situations and/or fixes?
