    OMG ... Mint!
    Under 7,000 miles.
In my younger days ... I'd be scheming-out some deal to make a bid.

It amazes me how these Bikes come-out of the woodwork and wind-up on Ebay.
This one's going to bring what he's asking and more.

    That is impressive.
Go for it, Glenn. What's an extra 600 Loonies shipping cost for probably the nicest original 900 you will ever see from this day forward? Despite Rick's claim, the seller might not get what he's asking. We know how great these bikes are, but there really isn't a whole lot of demand for them out there. Collectors who would sell their children to get hold of a mint early model CB750, for example, wouldn't give you a bag of donuts for a Seca 900, which is not only a far superior motorcycle in every way, but scarcer and prettier to boot. Go figure. To fetch big bucks, bikes like this often depend on the nostalgia factor--former owners who loved their old one back in the day (maybe it was their first), and want to recapture some memories. How many guys like that can there be, given how few of these bikes were sold? Make an offer. Open a dialogue. Who knows--you might just steal that gorgeous garnet gem.

You got to consider that there a people like Jay Leno who buy stuff like this just to be able to brag about it for a few seconds while they walk passed it in their garage - museums.

It's a beautiful bike. I don't think it will bring opening bid, much less what reserve might be. And that's a shame. I wish it would. They would be more likely to be restored. XJ4Keeps nailed it.

    Hello All,

I'm a new guy around these parts and a HUGE Seca 900 fan. I've had at least one over the last 16 years. I put over 100k on my 1st before I killed it when I decided to go to the mall the same time a teen age girl happened to be driving around. Let's just say I was lucky to have only a concussion.
I spoke to the seller days ago about his reserve. Although this is the nicest XJ900 I've seen, or may even exist, he knows it and wants a premium...like $5700!
For reference, I bought an original with 9k for $2200 a couple years ago.
Then again maybe he is just asking what it's worth considering these are grossly underappreciated, and undervalued, GREAT bikes. The market is just not there yet.

The seller is dreaming. Unless George Clooney's first street bike was a Seca 900, and he wants another one just like it, nobody is going to offer anything approaching five grand for this bike. I'd be shocked if it goes for $3500, if that.
The only thing shorter than the supply of superior quality early eighties XJs is the demand for them. Nobody bought these bikes when they were new, and nobody wants them now. Except, that is, for the few of us who know and understand.
This fact represents a great buying opportunity, IMO. If I had four grand lying around, I'd buy this beauty, have her shipped to my door, and be the only person smiling in the traffic on the way to Cape Cod on Thanksgiving day.

I think that Opening Bid Price is also the Reserve and that's what he's hoping to get.

As for the XJ Model Bikes.

The people that bought them could afford to run them until the fun was run-out and they started needing repairs and maintenance.
Then, the people who need Other People to maintain the Bike suddenly faced high labor prices for doing the simple stuff that keeps a bike going.
Once they decided to save money.
The bike sat for a couple of weeks until they forgot about it and then heard a BIG Number to make it go again.

That opened the door to this place.
And the aficionados we all are!

Most folks tell me this ones pretty.
I got two "Best Classic Asian" Trophies, a couple years back.
Could have got a Best In Show, once ... but, at the last minute ... somebody mentioned to the Judges that they don't come purple.

    I love it.
I'm taking the nose off this Winter to install New Roller-type Headset Bearings.
I'm also going to replace the Plastic Instrument "Lenses" with Domed Glass Covers.
I bet this one runs better than one on Ebay, though!

Color me shocked. The bike remains unsold after the high bid of $3750 failed to meet the reserve.

I've been in contact with the seller for other things, as well, and told me the reserve but I said I would tell what it was. I can say it's quite a bit higher, though.
