Well I got my old Seca Superbike back today, but it will be a while before it is ready to ride. I will be needing some parts allong with a FZ600 motor. I will keep you all up to date on its rebuild.

Yes they are , 18" wheels will give me a better choice of rubber. The guy I sold it to put those on allong with Radian forks and swing arm. I may use the stock swing arm that we had welded bracing on and a cable instead of a brake rod for a floating rear brake.

Awesome, glad I didn't sell you mine!

If you need anything for the rebuild, let me know.

Are you going to race it, or make it street legal again?

Got the wireing harness sorted out and front fender modified. Thanks to Bigfitz for filling my lost parts order, more parts on the way. Waiting on the weather to prep motor for paint. Need to get chain and stainless brake lines. Stay tuned.

Made more progress today. Got the motor mounted in the frame and hooked up my eBay 0-140mph speedo. Still need to blast and paint the pipe, drill the rotors, paint the Marzocchi shocks and other finishing touches before I can start it. Stay tuned.

You can put an FZ motor in these bikes? When I think of the FZ I am thinking of like year 2001 and beyond with the YZF motors.
Very sweet bike indeed. The reason I ask about the FZ is because we are picking up another xj550... a Seca (1981) and want to turn it into the baddest xj drag bike we can possibly muster. That is, of course, after we finish my xj550 maxim, my buddy's nighthawk 650, and my other buddy's YZF-R1.
Anyway... Does an FZ motor bolt into the frame on an XJ ?

Yes it bolts right in. I found that the back motor mount bolt is shorter on the FZ so you will need the one from the XJ550. I am using the wiring harness from the FZ as well due to the conectors are diffrent.

It was actulay afrom a Radian, year unknown. I bought a doner FZ600 that the guy had put the Radian motor in it. The only diffrence I think is the intake cam.

Ok... for sure. I am thinking it is closer to the FJ and XJ 600 type motors. I got all excited. I love the seca but it's nothing in performance compared to the r1 and r6... After our bikes are done we are going to make a chopper out of an r1 and we want to make the old '81 seca (which, right now is a heap) into a monster.
Either way, your bike is as sweet as they get for sure!

XJ550, FJ600, FZ600, YX600Raidan, all the same motor mount location.
