Is this the line for priming? The line is completely off the petcock and broken at the bottom of the tank. Think its possible to use the same line? Also what is this other rubber tube that seems to be cut off just above the engine in the second pic?

    Re: Eh broken gas line...

It's kind of hard to tell from the pic and we don't know for sure what bike you have, but I can give you this:

The hose in the second pic appears to be the breather hose.

In your first pic of the petcock, it's hard to tell; there should be two lines that go to the petcock: one for fuel, and a vacuum line to "operate" it. The vacuum line comes off one of the intake manifoild ports (usually #3) and the fuel line goes to the "tee" fitting on the carbs.

They're NOT the same type or size of hose, the fuel line is just that, the vacuum line needs to be "real" VACUUM line.

Your petcock appears to be missing its lever (handle,) might be time to pull it apart and repair it.

    Re: Eh broken gas line...

The "reserve tank" isn't a seperate tank. It is just the last of the gas. The petcock should have a tube for 'On' that is about 2 inches above the bottom of the tank. 'Reserve' will just bypass that tube and feed gas all the way to the bottom of the tank.

If that is the same petcock as a XJ900, I have parts. The bike I just bought has the lever, but is missing the cover/hold down plate. It also needs a rebuild.

Thanks for the replies, I put in a better pic. Yes, the lever is broken off the petcock.

Your broken petcock is set to "RES". You need to turn it clockwise 90 degrees to prime the carburetors.

There is not a separate "prime" line. As stated earlier there is 1 fuel line from the petcock to the carburetors. There is a smaller diameter vacuum line that goes to the intake - can't recall on the 600 if there is a nipple in the carb holders or a nipple screwed into the head.

Ok, before I turn the petcock to fuel I'm assuming I'm going to need to get that hose fixed thats torn as it comes from the bottom of the gas tank? That line goes from the bottom of the gas tank to the "PRI" side of the petcock.

'FUEL' is just the label for the petcock. It is not a setting.

'PRI' is for Prime. It allows gas to flow from the reserve intake into the carb without having a vacuum.

'ON' is where you normally leave it. It will only flow from the main fuel intake if there is a vacuum (engine running). Otherwise fuel will not flow.

'RES' is reserve. It operates the same as the 'ON', only it takes gas from the reserve intake. (As per MiCarl stated)

The little hose on the bottom is the vacuum - to the intake, and the big hose on the side is the fuel line - to the carbs.

There is no hose from the fuel tank to the petcock. The petcock has its inlets up where it's screwed to the tank. Did somebody connect the fuel tank vent to the outlet of the petcock?

Where does the fuel line from the carburetors connect?

Ok, I got the petcock switch fixed and I got the line coming out of the bottom of the tank fixed, although I still do not know where to run it too. Everything around the engine looks good. But this line should go somewhere.

I believe that is the tank vent (The Seca IIs have a sealed tank). See if there is an extra nipple on one of the carbs... I believe that's where the vent should connect to.
