    Hey guys,

    I have another question that hopefully someone can shed some light on. I am trying to reconnect the wires that are contained within the headlight housing. Most of them match up, however, I am left with a few that don't seem to have an obvious partner.

    A harness with a blue wire with a black stripe and a red wire with a black stripe. Both look male, but not certain.

    A black wire and a black wire with a white stripe. Both male.

    Two green wires together. Both female I believe.

    Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers!

    P.S.- Apologies for large photos, I just wanted everyone to be able to see the wires clearly.

    You really need a wiring diagram. Try googling your model with the word "Free" in it - you might get lucky!

    Here's where having a Factory Manual for your Bike pays for itself the first time you open the Cover.

    But, you don't have a Manual.
    What do you do next.

    Flashlight Search.
    Look for and HIDING Wiring Harness Couplings.
    Couplings with the Bucket don't mismatched mates.

    Test Light Discovery & Elimination Troubleshooting.
    You NEED a Test Light.
    Everybody who works on a Bike NEEDS a Test Light.
    $12.00 will get you the BEST one I have ever used.
    The Cal Van 72 Test Light with Power-ON Tone.
    It lights AND Beeps.

    Red = +12V Hot
    Red/White = +12V Switched
    Black = Ground

    Looks like once I get a battery for the bike I get to have some fun with the multi-tester.

    Getting the manual will definitely save you some swearing, and time.

    I took the head light off my '83 maxim. This is what I found.
    The two "light"green connect to a single"dark" green. Possible turn signal.
    The two black is empty. Just the way it is.
    Did not find the two wire connector, blue/black,red/black.
    Did not find the single wires, black or clack/white. Hope this helps till you get the manual. I'll continue to search.
