I'm sure its been done before, but i figured this would be fun.

If you could put any five motorcycles in your garage that are not Xj's what would you get?

    here are mine in order.
note:I have never ridden any these, They are just bikes i think of as "cool"

1.1985 Yamaha RZ350 (would be a great companion to my maxim 550)
2.1992 Honda Nr750 (ultimate collector bike and very cool)
3.1943 BMW r75 w/sidecar( a piece of history and i'm sure people wouldn't mess with me with that .50 cal on the sidecar)
    4.2009 Suzuki Hayabusa(ultimate speed rush)
    5.Harley Davidson sportster XL1200R(Saturday cruise)

    3: 1985 Yamaha RZ500

The machinegun on the beemer is actually a MG42 7.62 cal still used today by NATO(ex. Danish army) under the name MG62
1200 shots/minute originally fitted with telescopic sights for infantry use.

The BMW R71 was also made by the Sovjets as a cheaper copy witch i still made today with allmost no change to the original.
    http://www.ural.ca/news.html

Actually Harley made kopies of it aswell under some kind of war license.
    http://jeffdean2.home.att.net/h-d.htm

    Anyway I'd like this MOKO-HarleyDavidson.
    http://img285.imageshack.us/i/mokoharley0eb.jpg/
    or This BMW K1300R
    http://www.caltabianomotoclub.com.br/wp ... 1300_R.jpg
or the King of All-roaders the R1200GS
    http://www.raptorsandrockets.com/images ... re-6rc.jpg

My final suggestion is the Moto Guzzi Norge

The original MG42 was 7.92, it wasn't made in 7.62 until well after WW2

I'm mostly into the old school stuff,so,in no particular order:

    Early 80's Kaw GPZ 1100

Honda CB1100 F,iirc these were made in 1982 or 83 only

    80's,not new, Yama V-Max

Honda V-65 Magna, which iirc were only made a couple years in the early 80's

New Harley Nightster or Iron, either will do the trick

No such thing as a motorcycle I dislike but if I had to choose five for keeps i'd have 1973 Triumph X75 Hurricane, 1960 BSA Gold Star, 1978 Van Veen OCR (because they're odd), 1983 Hesketh V1000 and an early as poss Kawasaki Z1000 (and shares in a chrome polish company).

Bikes that I'm actually looking for (not dream bikes) . . .

    A BMW with anti-lock brakes
A better Venture Royale than the one I bought cheap
    A 350 enduro 4 stroke that's under $1000
a Kawasaki Concourse that's not ate up in miles

Now if someone else is paying, it's gotta be a Boss Hoss because everyone looks when you put 1,000 horsepower to the ground !!

    EDIT: A few more views . . .

Re: If you could own any five motorcycles that are not Xj's.

Unlike most of the other posts on here, my dream garage is full of new bikes. As much as I love and appreciate old motorcycles, after my XJ I don't plan on owning a single non-fuel-injected bike. I ride my bike too much to want to mess with carbs anymore, and with a newer bike it will be my primary vehicle so I want to turn the key and go. Plus as an Engineering student I'm fascinated by a lot of the new innovation in bikes.

    Sorry for the large pics!

    1. Triumph Speed Triple: planning to purchase one as a "graduation gift" to myself next year, love the sound, the looks, the "soul" as I've heard it put.

    2. Ducati Hypermotard: seem like a fun balls-to-the-wall thrasher for way too much money
    [IMG]

    3. Victory (honestly don't know the model): guy I work with has 1 like pictured (plus a few mods) and it has got to be the coolest American bike I've ever seen and heard.

    4. Buell Lightning: one of my best buds has one, it's a blast to ride and very unique sound and design. Very short wheelbase can be tricky though.

    5. BMW 1200 GS: another buddy had one before he bought his 'Busa, would be a great every-day bike
