So me and my gf were thinking of putting the bike on a trailer and driving down south till we could ride the bike into Florida. I was wondering if there was a good spot on the East Coast where I could drop off my car and trailer and continue on the bike. I was thinking North Carolina since we can ride and not be cold. I'm leaving from Montreal Quebec. the point of all this is I want to ride my xj this winter. Any ideas guys ty

i'm here in the west so can only suggest that you talk to a travel
    agent.
maybe they can come up with something/somewhere safe to park.

how about camp grounds? many are not off on dirt roads and some
stay open year round in the warmer climates.

if you were coming from BC, there would be lots of choices in southern
california, nevada, arizona etc (well at least in s.az, up here they have
shut down the camp sites.

good luck, sorry i'm not more helpful.

You might be able to talk a storage facility to park your car "outside storage" but inside the locked gate, for $40 or so, if you call ahead and shop around.

It is a little cold and wet in North Carolina right now. It will get better by March. Maybe one of the XJ members here in NC will let you park your car at their house while you continue your trip. I have a big yard maybe here. When were you thinking of going?

I know on advrider.com there is a section called tent space or something where members from all over the country post that they have space available to crash or tent. I have taken my bike on a trailer to some places and parked it at one of those members houses. Its a great way to go. That may be something we should start here.

Why don't you go to the Atlanta airport and park in long term parking. Ride from there and return. Should be pretty cheap. Probably has the prices on their web site. Maybe $3 a day or so.

I dunno if I'd leave a trailer in long term airport parking, plus $3/day works out to $90/mo.

If you did that in Detroit there wouldn't be much left of the trailer except whatever part was locked to your vehicle.

I would think you could find a "self-storage" place that has outdoor RV storage about anywhere you wanted to land and lock it up there; shouldn't be more than $30-$40 a month, like TIME said.

mlew is right; although even in March and as far south as Florida you're not guaranteed warm. I've froze my butt off at Daytona more than once in Feb/Mar. (Although low 50s beats -8F any day.)

I usually go down to cuba or go snowboard my ass off in Whislter B.C for my week off in Feb but this year decided to do something different since I need a break from Cuba and with the Olympics in B.C going snowboarding there is out of the question.

Why would you go to Cuba? I spent 6 weeks their over the summer in the army and it sucked except for the snorkling. The mosquitos and the land crabs drove me nuts.
