Just got a 1982 550 maxim. Was parked in 1985, with 2,276 miles on it .It was stored inside, so the paint, crome, seat, etc. is in perfect shape, it will clean up to like new. I plan to start at the front and clean, replace, rebuilt all the systems. All the rubber, cables and such will have to replaced after being parked this long. Still has a 1985 plate on it. I will try to add new post as i go along. Glad to be a new member.

Welcome topdog, that sounds like a pretty sweet ride you've got. Can I ask how much you paid for it? Also, ad your location and the bike details to your signiture so that people don't have to ask for details everytime they want to help you with a question. And most importantly, where are the pics? lol

Welcome to the both of you...this site rocks and as you use it, you'll soon realize just how valuable the people and info are. Don't be afraid to ask questions, there are no stupid ones. Anyway, Merry Christmas and don't forget to add where you are from etc.

Hey Johno8, a friendly hello from Ontario. Still keeping yourself dug out?
Been a while since I was out east, one of these summers I'm getting over to Atlanticade or the Cape Breton Bike Fest. I've read to much about them in Motorcycle Mojo. Got to actually get down there, It's at the top of my travel wish list/bucket list.

I've used my snowblower only once this winter...now having said that, I'm probably doomed! Would love to have you down here, there's lots to do for sure..in the Fall in Digby, there's the Wharf Rat Rally which is actually the biggest rally downeast...well worth taking in. How about you...had enough of winter yet?

The Weather Network keeps calling it an (Eninio~) warmer season,so the actual temp and amount of snow up here hasn't been that bad compared to last year. I normally have a plow contract all winter. So, I don't mind putting the bike away. It gives the bike enough down time to get some fresh fluids and some fresh paint. Unfortunately, this year my winter consists of a broken wrist (cast came off this week) so I'm slowly making it through the winter. Had a warm -1/0 degree week last week. Fired up the Maxim 'cus it's just outside in the shed with a heater on beside it.

hey everybody, im new to this site and well, chat rooms in general. my girlfriend saw my posts yesterday and said i should have introduced myself instead of just diving into tech talk, so hey i'm jmick , living on pei in canada's east coast, bought my first xj seca (81 i think) back in 2000, drove her for a couple of years, then parked it in my cousins barn, (have since moved it to my place due to his purchase of two horses) she's been downgraded to a parts bike, but thats ok because i bought my 83 maxim (identical engine, carbs, etc.) in 2003. she ran sweet for the first two years but then i moved out west and had to park her at my parents for a couple of years, when i moved home (pei) in 2007 she ran good for the summer but in 2009 my problems started, witch brings us to present. really glad i found this site i'm sure with the info here, your assistance and my bullheadedness i'll be back in the saddle in no time! thnx to all!!
