I'm going to be away from my bike (as well as my family and "civilization") for an extended period of time.

In order to feed my new found obsession, I'm looking to stock up on some movies/TV, etc.

Can anyone recommend movies/TV with motorcycle theme?

    So far I have:

    Worlds Fastest Indian
    Motorcycle Diaries (?)
    Long Way Down
    Long Way Round
    Easy Rider

    On Any Sunday. Good stuff!
Easy Rider. Just kidding unless you have lots of beer available! Definitely not Jack Nickelson's best. Peter Fonda? Never had a best.

Even though its a Harley theme, I thought Wild Hogs was a good movie

World's Fastest Indian was a nice little timewaster. (based on true story of an Aussie at Bonneville in the 50's)

If you like documentaries, might I recommend the History of the TT - A great documentary about the Isle of Man TT races. This will keep you occupied for 4 hours or so...

Okay this is a little off topic, not a movie, but "Jupiters Travels" is a great book about a guy that spends 4 years riding a Triumph all over the world. True story too.

Hows about the original Mad Max? Not a motorbike movie per say, but there's a bunch of old metric cruisers in it, one of my all time favs.

+1 And I recall Mad Max had a predecessor called "Stone". A different story but the toecutter was in it. A cop joins a bike gang to find out why they are being killed off.

I recall it had scenes of an old brit bike (Cop) racing against Kwacker fours.

Stone's bike was a Norton Commando, not dissimilar to BigFitz's.

You could always rent The Wild One, with a very young Marlon Brando. By today's standards it's a really tame movie, but by the standards of its day it was considered "scandalous."

I suggest Long Way Down and Long Way Round with Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman. Its documentary of cross the world trips.

Because the "Theme" is one that this Forum would most readily identify itself with, ... I'd recommend: "World's Fastest Indian."

One that has some appeal for aficionados of Hollywood's "B-Film" and low-budget, 8-Reel, Action Flick's is an early Robert Blake vehicle which allowed the films star to look utterly ridiculous as the worlds shortest-ever Motorcycle Cop in a film that romanced Harley-Davidson. For your Rental DVD viewing pleasure I give you:

    "ElectraGlide in Blue"

One Week with Joshua Jackson is a bit sappy, but great scenery and a Norton.

The Wild One for sure (take a CLOSE look at Brando's Triumph) and we can't forget The Great Escape. Even though it's only a 5-minute sequence, Steve McQueen trying to elude the SS on a thinly-disguised Triumph scrambler is some of the great motorcycle footage of all time.

And speaking of Steve McQueen-- Bullit. Only one dropped BSA, but arguably one of the all-time great car chases EVER. (Count the hubcaps coming off the bad guys' Dodge, there are way more than 4...)

Can't believe nobody mentioned Biker Boys yet. It's a dumb and crappy story,as you might expect of a biker flick, and it's all crotch rockets, but I've watched it a million times for the stunts. The stunts are all for real, none of that CG nonsense, yet so many of them don't even seem physically possible to me

If you love roadracing and MotoGP in particular, check out "Faster". It will give new respect for those guys. And Valentino! What more can you say. And if you want an American, there is always "The Kentucky Kid". If you didn't pick up on it, I love MotoGP!

"Motorcycle Diaries" has an old Norton in it i believe...pretty cool to think those guys actually rode "the mighty one" that far on those outback dirt roads.

Watch 'Black Rain' just for the intro...Harley XLCR vs a Japanese superbike (can't remember what it was). Really Cool! And there's the Japanese Yakuza on 400cc Racer Replicas in a fight scene as well...

You could by the newest indiana jones ovie, The Kingdom of the crystal Skull. Its got a mean looking and sounding Indian motorcycle in it. Another would be Mad Max because of all those cool old bikes, and who can forget that awesome car Gibson drives? Gotta love that gimongous blower!

The movie "Cradle to the Grave" has an awesome chase scene with dirt bikes and quads and popos.

And of course you could always watch grease 2. Not sure what kinds of bikes they are riding but a really nice sequence with a guy building his own out of a motorcycle boneyard.

Silver Dream Racer. Haven't seen it for a while. I think it was acted by the singer, David Essex? of "Rock on". Story about the motorcycle Grand Prix, filmed at Silverstone or Brands Hatch. Not a very good film, but has a dramatic ending - instead of the usual "uplifting" type of finish.

Choppertown is ok. I like Brittown even more, makes me really hate winters here  I'm very curious to The Harbortown Bobber too, haven't seen that one yet. And sure would like to see that Cafe society too...
