I'm sure this is a very stupid question, but I'm putting a battery in the bike and was wondering if I should put any type of grease on the terminals. If so, what kind? I have some Napa Anti-Seize Lubricant. Would that be okay to use? Thanks!

I prefer to keep mine clean without anything on them however silicone dielectric grease can be used. There are also products for coating terminals available from any automotive supply. Don't think anti-sieze is a good choice.

You can use either Permatex battery terminal spray (red stuff, a little runny but dries), petrolatum grease or silicone grease. I am predisposed to the Permatex (quick spray and go) as opposed to the other two but any will work for the purpose. The idea is to place a barrier between the lead of the terminal and the air around it to prevent lead oxide (which, over time can create a high resistance joint, leading to hard starts and a prematurely dead battery). I'd avoid running dry unless you just need to get home.

I squirt a quick blast of Tri-Flow or even WD40 on 'em in the spring when I bolt the battery in and don't think about them again. Wipe off the excess; too much of anything will only attract dirt.

Much more important to monitor battery water level.
