Pretty rare. They do appear in the states though. Not sure about Canada. The Canadian model was 750cc.

You do know that in addition to the water-cooling and five valves per cylinder, the shims are UNDER the buckets on those, right? As in, have to pull the cams to adjust?

There's always been a few 20 valve Genesis (Maxim-X,FZ,FZX) bikes on kijiji in SouthWestern Ontario but nothing recently. After reading what Fitz just wrote I'm glad i went with an airhead :D

Hmmm...after what bigfitz said maybe I don't feel bad about missing out on a MaximX that looked good for $300 in the greater Boston area. However, now I ended up with a turbo seca...

It's funny... I know they are supposed to be rare, but I've seen more of them than anything except Maxim 650's. I've probably seen around 10 of those. I looked at three X's before I bought the one I have now. I've seen 5 of them altogether. The 650 Seca is supposed to be a lot more common, but I've only ever seen one other than mine, and that was from a local here who was giving away parts from his. I guess it depends a lot on your geography.

I was never an xj guy till I got my xj1100 and after being on this site and researching these models I really fancy an X . Thanks for the advice on the shims but if something major does go wrong I refer to a retired yamaha and kawaski mechanic that I know. I do the little things on the bike . Saves me lots of time and bitching lol and he's pretty cheap.

    Thanks
