BMW released a view of the powerplant and drive platform for their 2011 luxury touring platform. She's gonna be a biggy in terms of displacement.

6 cylinders of water cooled in-line Bavarian engineering introduced in the form of a cafe bike. I have attached a few pics if you are interested. If you want to see or read more then search on "eichma 6".

Another futuristic prototype that will not look anything like the production model when (or if) it gets released.

And cafe? Maybe the tail (if you squint), but the rest is sports bike.

I dislike where bike design is going these days.

I agree with the sport bike comment. The scuttlebutt is that the powerplant/drivetrain is going to replace the K motor which is an inline four layed on it's side with the cylinder head to the riders left, crankcase to the right on the LT luxury tourer. You're right. The production model should like nothing like the prototype.

My LT puts out 100 hp at the rear wheel which is quite adequate for an 850 lb bike while the new inline 6 puts out 170 hp. Hopefully in a lighter package. Yipes!

Yes, thanks for posting. Yet, that's the type of response I'd expect from this crowd. Don't worry guys, that's a good thing! I look at that bike and think "wow, I could buy a lot of cheap XJ bikes for what I'd spend on that brand new BMW."

It's neat bike with some pretty cool stylings, but it's no cafe bike. I must say that I really like that speedo guage setup. Thanks for putting up the pics man.

Unfortunatly even if I wanted one bmw will not make one big enough for me. I've been cramped on every bmw I've ridden (five to date). Nice looking bike IMHO.

You obviously have never ridden on a GS Adventure... I cant even put my foot to the ground on that beast without leaning the bike first. But definitely one of the most comfortable bikes I've ridden.

Hillsy, I'll probably post some pics of the long abandoned dt in the first couple days after christmas. Just found a guy that can get me the parts I need so I'll get to working on her as money allows.
