brake dilemma

    so basically i need to replace everything in my front brakes, i need new pads, want to upgrade to stainless lines, and the cross drilled rotor chacal has. the problem is i dont have the $400 or so it would take to replace everything at once. so if i was going to do it in stages what should i do first? i feel like lines/pads first then rotor later would be the best bet. any thoughts?

    Pads and rotors work together, fit together, and must 'bed-in' with each other for best performance. So do those two at the same time.

    From your list, I would upgrade the brake lines, and then do the rotors/pads.

    Odd that you omit from your list: If you have to replace "everything" in your front brakes, why do you not mention the calipers? The master cylinder? Are those okay? Are you sure?

    Have you inspected or replaced all the rubber bits in the parts that actually generate the hydraulic stopping power in your brake system?

    You're talking about a rotor, pads, a caliper kit, a M/C kit and stainless lines, right?

    In stages: Rebuild the master cylinder, install stainlesss lines.

    Rebuild caliper.

    Replace pads and rotor together.

    Or do everything except the new rotor; and when you install that replace the pads again, at some point in the future.

    The completely stock system, rebuilt with stainless lines, works quite well.
