We close the books on 2009 having one of our BEST years ever.
    Membership grew to over 6000.

We got a few guys running real good.

We bailed-out some guys who might have got themselves in a real bind trying to do something without the support of a nucleus of regular contributors, with great intuition about what a Noobee tries to describe in a Post.

Some lucky Members bought beautiful Bikes for next to nuthin'!
Amazing us with finds and great deals all year long.

Other Members bought the remains of another's neglect and performed Miracles right before our eyes.
We watched in amazement as they acquired "Projects" and began bringing-back a Bike from the dead with the skills of a Sorcerer, Witch-Doctor, Magician and Technician needed for the restoration.

What got done by the Membership of this Forum in 2009 is deserving of the highest acclaim.

I guess before we get the recognition for some of what happened in here to make 2009 a fantastic and unforgettable experience for us will ever be made known to the readers of the Motorcycling Popular Press, ... one of us will have to walk out to the center of a pond, kneel, fill a canteen with water and then tip-toe ashore and fill wine glasses with a delightful tasting
    Beaujolais.

Outdoing 2009 is going to be a formidable task.
But, I know you'll manage somehow.

    Happy New Year, everybody!

Now, we get to do it all over, ... again!

This post just made me love my bike that much more. This is a great site and what a great tool everyone has created for people who find worth in a bike that we usually see in a barn or beside a garage or in some yard full of forgotten and neglected machinery, missing the tank, rusted and seized up in all the moving parts.
These bikes are wonderful machines and were once revolutionary in design and engineering. But the performance and design races by the big named manufacturers have, for some reason, left a great classic covered in dust.
Anybody who ownes an XJ, XS, FJ, and other bikes from this time, knows the dedication, time, passion, and expense these bikes take. They understand the frustration and impatience they can sometimes spark. But what a satisfying experience when you are riding your relic down the back roads, or keeping effortless pace with freeway traffic or going across the country loaded down with luggage.
What a great site and what a great bike.
    Have fun in 2010.

This truly is a great forum. I belong to quite a few forums for the different hobbies I have and this one is by far the best. Always a helping hand and never a complaint when seeing the same question asked for the 50th time. Only friendly direction and encouragement from a broad and diverse group of individuals.

    Here's to a great 2010.

What we should also recognise is the spin off from this forum, the expanding of general knowledge of ALL things mechanical.
How many people will now change the oil, or change a flat tire on the car or truck, who would not have had a clue before joining this merry band.

There'd be a few who could do this too. BigFitz, wizard and yourself Rick to name a few.

Thanks to you Mods, the forum members and a Haynes manual for giving me the confidence to jump right in and 'ave a crack at my bike. :)

The best part for me is having access to a worldwide community of people who understand why I'm so fond of my Maxim. Very few of my friends get it. Except Don, of course, and after all I met him thru this forum.

On a down note, 2009 also saw the death of well known and prolific contributor Bill Schmitt. He is missed.

I know for me 2009 was a real tough year. Both my father and I were laid off, I lost my best friend, another friend battling cancer. Reading this site and then going out to wrench on my bike has kept me going. You guys have kept me sane and I cant say thanks enough. Here's looking to an amazing 2010!

Yes, Bill is missed GREATLY (not a day passes without his loss being felt), and the forum showed me and our family why he loved the XJBikers forum! You are a great group of people who share a passion that Bill shared too. We ALL love riding and Yamaha motorcycles!! Thank you for your support through his loss and the healing process.

You also have me looking for an XJ or Radian to add to the stable!! Oh yeh! Santa brought my sweety a Basic Riders Course!! We'll have her cruising by spring!!

Congrats to XJBikers and thank you for all your hard work!
